Cupido was launched in 1984 at a time when a tidal wave of anti-pornography demonstrations flooded the country of Norway.
Norwegian women - and indeed quite a few men - marched through the streets demanding: Down with pornography - yes to erotica! We felt that time was ripe for producing an alternative to the traditional pornographic and mens magazines.

Cupido's Erotic Short Stories
Already in our first issue, the editor of Cupido challenged his readers to participate actively in the hazardous project it was to develop an alternative erotic magazine.
We told our readers in no uncertain terms that if they wanted to know of other peoples sexuality and what turns them on - and if they wanted to get aroused on other peoples erotic stories - well, in that case they would have to contribute themselves with their own sexual confessions and erotic fiction.
